WASHINGTON – The grieving father of the Virginia TV reporter killed with her cameraman during a live report Wednesday vowed to work for legislation to make it harder for mentally ill individuals to obtain guns.

Andy Parker, whose daughter, TV reporter Alison Parker, 24, and cameraman Adam Ward, 27, were killed on live television Wednesday, told CNN's Chris Cuomo Thursday that he's ready to make a strong personal effort to pass gun control legislation.

"Look, I'm for the Second Amendment, but there has to be a way to force politicians who are cowards and in the pocket of the NRA (National Rifle Association) to come to grips and have sensible laws so that crazy people can't get guns," Parker said. You can watch the interview here.

On Wednesday, President Barack Obama, Democratic Presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe and former Rep. Gabrielle Gifford's, D-Ariz., who was shot in the head in 2011 while presiding over a constituent meeting, were among those advocating enactment of gun control measures.

NO, it is not. We need to do something to fix this problem. The 2nd Amendment is no more absolute than any of the others in the Bill of Rights.
People are dying daily because too many people are saying nothing can be done about it. Bull shit, that is why they are dying in the first place.

nothing is lost forever, it's just going to take more time.

You are so right. We can't give up. Every American will feel the effects of gun violence, that's inevitable, but we must continue to hound our representatives to do something about it. We did get some restrictions passed in Colorado after the Newtown massacre. It's not impossible, it's just hard.
