In all, advocacy groups say there are at least 98 active, gun-related pieces of legislation that could be considered
more than ample fodder for a fittingly sweeping legislative debate, if lawmakers actually wanted to have one. As the legislative cycle fires up again, heres a warp-speed tour of the bills already on file, and broadly speaking, what they would do.
=====
Proposed legislation includes Universal background checks, denying gun and explosive sales to people on the terror watch list, domestic violence prevention, requiring law enforcement to respond to families reporting loved ones suspected of being a danger to themselves or others and a host of other make-sense regulations. None of them will be considered in either of the Republican controlled houses.
Along with those are the Republican offerings that include allowing more guns on public lands, preventing the BATF&E from classifying guns and ammunition as prohibited, arming soldiers with personal weapons, and generally preventing any legal action against gun sellers or makers. Some of this will definitely get a hearing.
Guns is sooooooo special.
