Welcome the newest members of the club:

Barbara and Andy Parker who lost their daughter to a gunman on live television. They join Tom Teves and Tom Sullivan both of whom lost a son in the Aurora, Colorado theater shooting. Michael Pohle will be at the meeting too since he lost his son at Virginia Tech in 2007. Then there's Mark Barden and Nicole Hockley, founders of the Sandy Hook Promise along with other parents of six year old children gunned down in that elementary school. Gabby Giffords will no doubt attend the initiation being lucky enough to survive being shot in the face at a grocery store event. The four people I met at the organizational meeting of the Ft. Worth chapter of Moms Demand action would like to be there and share their stories of suicide and murder touching their lives.

At some point gun violence will touch every one of us. If not you directly, someone you know. Like the teen aged daughter of Frank, an acquaintance of mine, who shot herself in the chest with her father's pistol. Frank kept her alive until the medics arrived.

So, I ask you, when will you decide to make gun violence a priority? When will you pick up the phone and call your elected representative; local, state and federal to tell them that gun violence is an issue for you.

When will YOU decide to take part and WHAT will it take?
