Gun nuts freak out over Texas students’ #CocksNotGlocks open carry protest
University of Texas students announced a plan to openly carry dildos in response to a new campus carry law that takes effect next year.
The Facebook page for the group Campus (DILDO) Carry has since been flooded with abuse, which moderators are leaving in place to show the kind of aggressive hostility open carry zealots display when they find out theyre being mocked.
The group was founded in protest of Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R)s signing of S.B. 11, a so-called campus carry law which says license holders may carry a concealed handgun throughout university campuses, starting Aug. 1, 2016.
According to the Houston Chronicle, the #CocksNotGlocks protesters intend to openly carry brightly colored sex toys on campus in protest.
Youre carrying a gun to class? wrote group founder Jessica Jin on Facebook. Yeah well Im carrying a HUGE DILDO. Just about as effective at protecting us from sociopathic shooters, but much safer for recreational play.
Jin invited like-minded protesters to join the group on Aug. 1, 2016 the first day of fall semester for a group strap in.
As of press time, 2,000 people said they intend to go to the rally.

(1,604 posts)Wouldn't this be considered potentially sexual harassment? Universities are work places as well.

(2,081 posts)of the University of Texas tower shootings for the day the open carry law goes into effect are the vilest sort of human beings.
These legislators are purposely mocking the 16 dead and 32 wounded, the families and friends of the dead, the two courageous police who risked their lives to confront the shooter head on, and all students and staff at the UT now.
I was at college (far away, in Washington state) at the time. The UT tower shooting was such a shock that students even thousands of miles away never really got over it. I am still not over it. Shame on the Texas legislature.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/1172177490#post45and not returned until classroom decorum is followed.
I believe that you should know that classroom disruption can not be tolerated.
Even your "University" has one. It will be enforced. The teacher will face punishment ranging from a letter of reprimand in their personal file up to discharge from the University staff.
Are you allowed to teach while naked? Be truthful about it.
oneshooter: You still have "declined" to answer the question about your employer, a State University, having a dress code for students and facility.
oneshooter: When faced by it you run, deflect, hide.
The truth is that IF you work at a State University you are under their dress code, and ethics code. YOU can be punished when in violation of either one. Your status as a teacher will not protect you, if you violate state law then you can be held responsible, If you violate the terms of your employment agreement then you can be punished for that, up to and including discharge with reason.

(13,869 posts)I wonder if it was the same person? Maybe they should get a clue, and knock it off, or just go away.

(17,997 posts)People here, or I should say people who used to be here, had a sense of humor. The politically correct Gestapo ended that.
Don't get me wrong, harassment is completely unacceptable. But the new rules of engagement seem to be certain words are wrong but personal attacks that have zero to do with subject matter of posts are Okey dokey!
Ah me. Someone will probably alert on this.

(28,734 posts)Which is the 50th anniversary of Charles Whitman's shooting spree from the UT Tower. Don't think for one moment that that's a coincidence.
Fuck Greg Abbott and anybody who supports UT campus carry. As of yesterday, over 500 UT faculty members had signed on against concealed carry in their classrooms.
