The case for Elizabeth Warren for president, in 7 minutes

BY CHRIS CILLIZZA
April 8 at 3:15 pm

There's only one person in the Democratic party who has a credible path to beating Hillary Rodham Clinton in a 2016 Democratic primary. And her name is Elizabeth Warren.

As we've written before, Warren has the national profile, the liberal icon status and the demonstrated fundraising capacity -- $40 million for a Senate race ain't too shabby -- that would, theoretically give her a chance to run as the liberal/non-establishment alternative to Clinton. Now, we don't think she's running. And, even if she did Clinton would be tough to beat. But, Warren went to Minnesota over the weekend to headline the Humphrey-Mondale dinner, a fundraiser for the state Democratic party, and showed why she would create some nervousness in the Clinton ranks if she did change her mind.

The entire video runs just under 7 minutes and is worth watching. But, if you're a skimmer, just watch the first 15 seconds or so.

I always feel sorry for people that are ignorant and vote against their best interest.

It's in my nature.

BTW, congrats on the new raise.

Vanilla Rhapsody, have you read her book?

If you read her book, you may agree with me that she will run if we want her to.

she is a person who takes opportunities when offered. Her life has been positively serendipitous. She doesn't think twice though when asked to do something. She usually says yes if saying yes will further a cause she believes in. Read her book and you may want her to run. It would not surprise me. It's a great book. It will rekindle your idealism and enthusiasm for the America we could have but don't thanks to all the corporatist jingoism in both parties over the past 50 years or so.

... and then both candidates would have to focus on issues instead of trying to deflect to that kind of distraction of a "critique" of opposition.

And on issues, I think Warren still wins with the traditional Democratic party electorate. with her ideas that are far more in synch with what most of us the 99% want and not what a board member of Wal-Mart would and a supporter of H-1B program expansion wants.
