Robert Reich Joins Calls For Warren To Run

ROBERT REICH SAYS RUN WARREN RUN:

Adding his name to the long list of those hoping for a Warren run, former Labor Secretary Robert Reich said via Facebook that he hopes to see a contested primary and wishes Elizabeth Warren were in the race.

The Nation’s John Nichols highlighted Reich’s respect for Warren and their shared positions on many issues, including income inequality.

“This is more than just an expression of ideological sympathy, and more than punditry. This is a former Bill Clinton cabinet member saying, specifically, that he hopes Warren will run.”

USA Today’s Catalina Camia notes that Reich voiced a desire to have candidates talking about crucial economic issues on a Democracy for America call last year, suggesting Warren could be that candidate.

The Washington Post’s Aaron Blake has more on the 2014 call:

“I think, though, if we don’t get a candidate or a set of candidates in 2016 who are taking this issue with the seriousness it needs to be taken, I think that there will be a lot of people — Elizabeth Warren, others, maybe even me — who will toss our hats in the ring, because it has to be addressed,” Reich said.

“Reich understands the system is rigged in favor of the rich and powerful and knows that having Warren in the race, speaking truth to that power, will ultimately strengthen the Democratic Party and our democracy..” —Ready for Warren’s Erica Sagrans

RWR IOWA SUPPORTERS GATHER: Run Warren Run backers in Iowa hosted several strategy and organizing meetings over the weekend to get supporters fired up. Iowans are holding additional Run Warren Run events this week in Waterloo, Iowa City, Ames, Dubuque, and Davenport.

During a Run Warren Run meeting in Mason City, KIMT spoke with Becky Stockton, a local Run Warren Run organizer.

ICYMI: WARREN MARCHED FOR SELMA 50TH: Alongside Rep. John Lewis and thousands of others, Warren marched across the historic Edmund Pettus Bridge for the 50th anniversary of Bloody Sunday.

‘LET WARREN SHAKE UP CAUCUS CAMPAIGNS’: In a letter to the editor in The Quad City Times, supporter Karene Nagel encourages voters to educate themselves on Elizabeth Warren’s fight for the middle class. Citing Warren’s tussles with Wall Street, Nagel urges others to join the effort:

“Sen. Warren will take on all the big cats. She has the smarts and the steam to actually level the playing field for the 90 percent. I want her leadership in the White House and encourage everyone to learn more about her. Then join us at Run Warren Run.”

1. I want her to run, too - but is Reich proposing that Warren run just as a foil for Hillary?

The thing is, Hillary could now spout liberal and Progressive promises all day, and I would not believe her for a second.
Moving campaign rhetoric to the left only means that the rhetoric has moved to the left. Not actual policies.

"...it's way too early (there's not even a plan A because she(Hillary) hasn't yet declared)..."

Hillary needs to address the email issue now rather than later, regardless of who thinks the issue is frivolous......her own senior party member has now publicly called her out for her to shed some light on her email debacle.

Reich is aware that Warren has made it clear that she is not running......maybe this is Reich's way of publicly supporting Warren's entry as a tuneup challenger without throwing Hillary under the bus.......He makes his personal wish very clear "...I wish that challenger would be Elizabeth Warren..."

5. No, I want Hillary for President She's a fighter, Warren should be Majority leader

I trust Warren to right laws for all of us, if she get enough votes
Hillary will sign them, a person who runs for President needs to be a good
politician to win, one of John Kennedys favorite joke was how every
parent wants their child to become President, however none wanted
them to be involved with politics. As Abraham Lincoln said the first
rule in becoming President was to win the political game, then you
can make law. Democrats need team work, if we lose this country we
will be at war in Iran, if the GOP have their way!!!
We need to win at all cost, lives will be one line if we lose!!!!!!!

Look at this email attack on Hillary, Bill Press and other Warren support foldded
like a deck of cards, Hillary knows its lie by the NewYorktimes, she laughs it
off, and in few days we do find out is not a story at all. Hillary can stand up
to anything she is experienced. Her approval rating is soring in the public, while
weak liberal are wring there hands and attacking Hillary instead of the GOP,
who with the corporation media made up the story.
Warren, Obama, and all the democrats should work together, to put Hillary in office
to stop the war the GOP are planning. Focus on the Treason of GOP senators!!

Hillary is a hawk, one that thus far has yet to meet a war she doesn't like.

8. Where the Hell did get that Hillary is war hawk, she worked for Obama and worked for peace!!

Hillary, is for peace, Obama is for peace, If were ever have to
go war I trust either of them to a decision. If Obama had been
a Senator when Iraq war was debated he would have voted for it:
because for the lies the GOP told.

Also don't care for Bashing of fellow democrat!! You have know facts
to back up your claim.

9. You don't know much about Mrs Clinton do you?

She is one of the most hawkish Democrats I know of, do some research, her time at the state department should clarify a great deal for you.

She also notably voted to give George Bush his war as well, a war with a country that did not attack us, so a war of aggression. Those lies he told were so transparent that if she was not complicit she would have to have been stupid, take your pick.

Who told you she was a dove? I'm just curious who is spreading that nonsense misinformation. It is one think do agree with her hawkish perspective if one feels it makes her "strong on defense", but to believe she is a dove rather than a hawk would be the result of manipulation as it is a false assertion.

Hillary is one of the most slam-dunk hawkish Democrats on the scene, easily, and very, VERY loyal to AIPAC.
Her husband bombed Iraq and other countries for years.

Weird, the notions some folks get in their heads these days.

6. I don't think that having an opponent will make HRC "an even stronger candidate"....

HRC is what she is and nothing can fix it.

I wan't Warren to run and I want her to win.

And, frankly, I'm hoping that Hillary doesn't run and that whatever it takes for her to not become candidate happens, and happens soon.

It's the only hope for a Progressive Renaissance.

12. I really want Elizabeth to run, but I finally believe she's not going to.

Bernie has been upfront all along saying he was waiting for Elizabeth to jump in. I don't believe Bernie would have announced his candidacy if he believed there was a chance she might run.

If a shot at the White House is not in the cards for Elizabeth, I picture her lighting up the Senate for many years to come filling Ted's shoes which are pretty damn big shoes to fill.
