Elizabeth Warren
Related: About this forumElizabeth Warren is brilliant. @#$%ing brilliant.
OK, I'm biased. But look at what she did today: She announced a bill to bring back Glass-Steagall, co-sponsored by John McCain. John McCain.
Sure, the thing will be shot down by the Insane Clown Posse that consists of almost all of one side of the aisle, and much of the other side too, but now when she runs for president Warren can say:
1. I can absolutely work with non-insane Republicans - look at my record.
2. I tried to bring back a good regulation that was assassinated by a president who just wanted to make a few bucks for his family after he left office. Yes Hillary, that's means your bank account.
Add this to her attempts to lower interest rates on student debt, to raise the minimum wage, and to put bankers in jail - all of which are favored by at least two-thirds of Americans - well, this is gonna be great!
Excelsior!

She knows how to rock a boat! But this will bring out the really big guns. Even this whole thing with Snowden will seem like a cute little playground argument comparatively.
I hope for all of our sakes she's got enough protection- this is going to get UGLY.

(13,685 posts)A woman, a politically engaged woman at that, worthy of my undying support and endearment. It has been such a long search.
Obama needs to help her. Visibly and in the trenches.

He probably supported it as a form of poison pill to kill the bill.

(628 posts)That old cantankerous windbag is certainly a member of the clown posse. He was one of the tools bleeting about the supposed Benghazi cover-up! Or are we going to forget that stupid event, among others just because he's playing nice with Warren in this particular instance?

I found this part of it very interesting
The idea of restoring the law has also gained some support from Wall Street veterans such as Sanford Sandy Weill, whose creation of Citigroup Inc. ushered in the era of U.S. bank conglomerates in the 1990s. Weill has said ending Glass-Steagalls prohibitions was a mistake.
What we should probably do is go and split up investment banking from banking, Weill said in July 25, 2012, CNBC interview. Have banks do something thats not going to risk the taxpayer dollars, thats not going to be too big to fail.
I am limited on time so probably missed it but if you haven't yet started an OP in GD on it and if you do please DUmail me the link because I would love to support it.
Thanks

(57,936 posts)I think that she will have money when the the comes to win.
And her candidacy, if we can persuade her to run in the primary, will change the conversation in 2016.
