(40,416 posts)But I am not like some here who apparently want to promote her into some sort of god, or the next Dem presidential nominee.
She's going to be a Cracker Jack senator. Why would anybody who likes her want her to give up her hard won US Senate seat, for somebody who will undoubtedly be less, to abandon her constituency to pursue more power in an Oval Office?
We need people like Phil Hart (D-MI), Carl Levin, Dick Durbin, and other great US Senators who won't sell out the voters for a mere power grab.
I want Warren to stay in the Senate.

(34,589 posts)Yeah, 22% for the average recipient. And you thought the chained CPI was bad?
Levin helped torpedo any fix to the filibuster.
Our state has a great big bench filled with great Liberals to replace Warren when she moves to the White House.

(40,416 posts)not their position on any particular issue. I am sure Warren will be more liberal than my examples (except maybe Hart). But that will go for naught if she bails to run for POTUS in 2016, as many of her fans here want. One cannot accomplish much in the US Senate in one partial term. Indeed, her MA voters may wonder why they should fight to get her to the Senate if she wouldn't commit to even a single term.
I do not think she has ambitions to the White House. I sincerely hope she does not at this time.

(5,158 posts)As Senator from Illinois. Yet he accomplished quite a bit, both as Senator and as President. I think Warren will accomplish just as much as Obama, if not more so. She is already becoming an effective Senator, and will be just as effective in the White House.

(17,796 posts)as a nation we've allowed moneyed interests to drag us away from our center. Continuing to elect right wing politicians(R or D) isn't going to change that.

(40,416 posts)But some may argue that that may make her unelectable. I am sure that the Repubs would be saying precisely that. Of course, they say PBO is a communist, socialist, nazi, so it may not make much of a difference.
On the other hand, in spite of my support for him, I was not comfortable with BO not finishing his only Senate term, and I would likely be uncomfortable with Elizabeth doing the same.
Of course, I would support her, but leaving the Senate before completing even a single term grates me, if only as a matter of comfort.

(22,271 posts)is unelectable, I can't help but remember Dean and Kerry. According to our Party Geniuses, Dean was unelectable but Kerry was. Dean was shoved out of the way to make room for Kerry who then proceeded to lose to the worst. president. ever.
In my opinion the Democratic Party needs new blood and that includes the Party Geniuses who think they have the knowledge and wisdom to determine for us who is and is not electable.
There are some incredibly powerful organizations already lined up to support Warren and her grassroots support far exceeds Dean's, which was considerable. Hillary has the support of the Establishment Dems, Party Faithful and, of course, big corps. It will be a battle to behold if they both enter the primaries.
Us "fucking retards" on the Left have been sidelined for too long by the Party Geniuses but we're back and we're stronger than ever.

(27,315 posts)even if I am not in the camp of Warren 2016. We are in the mist of a second out of cycle senatorial race in 3 years. We need senators who focus on the states to replace those we had. So, I hope to keep her as my senator a long time.
