Elizabeth Warren surges in new Prez poll

Sunday, October 6, 2013

S & Politics, Matt Stout
She’s reportedly waiting until 2014 before she starts thinking about 2016, but Hillary Clinton, according to one national poll, is your frontrunner for the White House — by a wide margin.

And Elizabeth Warren is your fastest rising star.

The former secretary of state and first lady dominated last week’s new Quinnipiac University survey, which showed her gobbling up 61 percent of support and beating any Republican challenger — be it New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Kentucky U.S. Sen. Rand Paul or Texas U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz — by anywhere from 13 to 23 points.

But no one in the past five months has made a bigger jump as a potential presidential contender than Warren, according to pollsters. At 7 percent, she ranked third among Democrats, behind Clinton, of course — way behind — and Vice President Joe Biden, who sat at 11 percent.

But in May, she was a non-starter, according to Quinnipiac pollsters, not even registering among Democrats and “Democrat leaners.” She then jumped the seven points in October — the biggest ascent of anyone in the poll, Democrat or Republican.

“David,” Warren said, “I am not running for president. I am working in the United States Senate. That’s my job. It’s a job that matters. I’m working my heart out here. So that’s what I’m going to keep on doing.”

... the most Progressive candidate. Perhaps O'Malley, Grayson or Dean.

I would vote for Hillary in any primary.

Progressive values, and vocal opponent of the far right will get my vote. Could be her. We'll see when the time comes. Of the names passed around, she is the most vocal.

Good to know this.

Not a huge fan of Hillary -- I think she is too old for the job and I do not believe her health is that great.

Two big negatives besides the fact I'm a bid OD'd on the Clintons et al.

Would Love to see a Pres. Elizabeth Warren! Yes I would!!!

Hillary is the best chance of keeping Dems in control, but why not Elizabeth as vice president? She could learn the ropes, help push Hillary in a more progressive path and after Hillary she would be seasoned enough to be the Pres for the eight years after that.

Right behind Obama and Hillary Clinton.

I think she's the best chance we have to get a liberal in the oval office.

And, for those who missed it, I said so here.
