WORCESTER Senator Elizabeth Warren appeared in Worcester Thursday to raise awareness of a scam impacting elderly veterans. Warren has introduced legislation to help combat the problem and protect veterans.
I want to ring the bell for any of our senior vets or families of senior vets to know the benefit is available but to know that the sharks are swimming in the water around them trying to hurt them, said Warren at Veterans Inc. I am very hopeful about the law.
Warren has introduced an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act along with Senator Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) that would begin the process of examining how best to combat scams on veterans. Some of these scams involve the Aid & Attendance benefit designed to help pay for assisted living or in-home personal care for veterans.

We have one case where they took the vets assets and put it into an annuity that wouldnt start paying until he was in his 90s. Those arent going to help somebody, said Warren. Vets are left in a worse financial position than when they started.

She wouldn't be (gasp) attending to constituents, like she's been doing most weekends, in one of our poorer cities in the Commonwealth.
And she sure as hell wouldn't be reaching across the aisle to work with a cretin like Rubio on a piece of legislation that benefits disabled veterans--the "purity brigade" would call her an "appeaser" or worse, and throw her under the bus--lumpity-lumpity-lump!

(135,425 posts)Are you saying, that because a) I can see the handwriting on the wall; b) I believe my senator when she says something like "I am not running," and I don't believe any pie in the sky bullshit that a brilliant woman doesn't mean what she says, that I am not welcome here?
Please be clear in your response--I really think that the lines need to be drawn.
If refusing to believe that Elizabeth Warren says what she means is grounds from being "banned" from this group, I think that information needs to be placed in the SOP for this group.
I might visit - looks like the HC group needs a bit of excitement.
