Somalia:Ethiopian troops hand over their military bases to AU peacekeeping forces

BAIDOA(Garsoornews Online)-Following a farewell ceremony held last night in Baidoa city, Ethiopian troops stationed in Bay region have formally handed over their military bases to AMISOM peacekeeping forces, Garsoornews Online reports.

“Ethiopian troops stationed here began to vacate Baidoa last Sunday, they had three military bases and following their recent preparations, the last group of troops vacated Baidoa Monday,” Hassan Biikole, Baido District commissioner said at the farewell ceremony.

The district commissioner of Baidoa Hassan Biikole, has told Garsoornews Online that the African Union mission in Somalia (AMISOM) peacekeeping forces immediately filled the military stations vacated by Ethiopian troops this week.

On 10 July,2013, Ethiopian troops vacated Bay regional districts of Bardale and Qansahdheere and their pullout was also felt in Baidoa as they retreated from major military bases including Hasey Factory station and 60th Somali Army Base.
