(175 posts)I'm not sure whether it was because it brought back memories from the first time I saw it, or the super cute ending, or Gamera defeating all those nasty monsters, or the cute girl villain getting zapped by her erstwhile masters, or Gamera forfeiting his life to save the world, as alluded to in the theme song:
Yuuki de
mamore
kono chikyuu
Bravely protect this world

(175 posts)which is a spoof of monster movies. I was amazed when I saw the location, because I was very familiar with it-- the Asakusa district of Tokyo. Raiga rises out of the Sumida River and starts knocking stuff around-- including the giant golden "hop" on top of the Asahi Beer building. In fact, he knocks it up in the air and it lands across the river, right in front of the entrance to Asakusa Station, which I used at one time in my commute. Then these two guys who are obviously tourists walk out of the station, and one of them points to the "hop" and says, "What's that?" The other one replies, "Monster doo-doo, what else?"
