British Actor Denholm Elliott born 1922, died 1992

Denholm Elliott on Desert Island Discs from 1974, 10 min long

I was watching The Cruel Sea, a movie from 1953, about a British Merchant Navy Ship, the HMS Compass Rose. It follows the ship trying to find and sink German submarines and saving people along the way.

One of the actors was a young Denholm Elliott and I remembered him distinctly. So I looked him up and he did many movies.

In the BBC Desert Island interview, he talks about not wanting to get famous and liking it that way. Very unusual.

He mentioned a few movies that he especially liked, Station Six-Sahara and Maroc 7.

He also did The Sound Barrier, a 1952 British aviation drama film directed by David Lean. I want especially to see the David Lean movie, because he is such a great filmmaker
