Annoying film cliche: only evil people listen to classical music.

Cross-posted in the Lounge.

Just once, I'd love to see a film protagonist listen to classical music and or opera with knowledge and enjoyment. But in films where someone is listening to classical music, they are almost always rubbing their hands in glee at some evil deed they have just committed, or are about to commit, and the music offers a dramatic counterpoint to the scene.

Leveling a village in order to have a decent place to surf.

I know the ostensible reason was to get Willard's PBY into the Nung River past the hot village, but that consideration was secondary in Kilgore's mind.

Just evil...

In the 2006 Marie Antoinette though - it was so joyful and fun to watch her trying not to laugh at the absurdity of the French Court.

And Mozart's Clarinet Concerto in A Major was used beautifully in Out of Africa.

Krister Henriksson was the best actor to play this gritty, Swedish detective. His series was the best of the three, two Swedish, and one BBC with Kenneth Branaugh.

Wallender

BTW, he's a good guy.
