Add in Lucas, Disney, and JJ "Let's destroy Star Trek with lots of lens flash and unethical Spock love affairs with a woman under his command which would get any officer into a court martial court" Abrams. To say nothing of a cadet getting command of a star ship over all the star fleet officers who worked hard for years.

I may see the new Star Wars, but only if my friends want to.

JJ Abrams is an utter hack!

It was great!
JJ Abrams did a fantastic job on this one. The cinematography alone was breathtaking. It was filmed in Abu Dhabi, Iceland , and Ireland.
A great handoff to the next generation of characters.

No spoilers! But I liked to bait the new Star Wars fans with that conjecture.

After all, he does not appear in any of the trailers and he never completed his Jedi training. He has to appear in the last scene with Dark Helmet. I jest, of course.

My best to you. I may even watch this one. Not expecting much. Lucas + Disney + Abrams = utter rubbish.

I enjoyed the hell out of it. Great story line and good character matchups. Removing G. Lucas from the writing process was a big step up. The dialog was smooth and smart, unlike episodes 1,2,and 3 where it was poorly scripted and unconvincing.

And the pressure from friends is increasing.

BTW, I still think JJ is a hack WRT Star Trek. He utterly ruined it. Roddenberry is rolling in his grave.

However, I will take your advice and go.

The lens flare nonsense was annoying.

*contains spoilers-do not read if you have not seen the movie*

But I also see how they introduced the two new characters and I would guess they will be the ones that carry on the franchise. With Han Solo dead, that only leaves Leia and Luke. Luke was only in the last minute of the movie, so we have no idea what role or how much they will be in the last two. If I were to venture a guess Luke will end up training the new female character as a Jedi and both Leia and Luke will have limited roles in the last two movies. R2D2 and C3PO will continue to rock the franchise until the end.

I thought it was sort of poorly written and mostly boring. BUT I did think it did an awesome job being socially conscious. So that was good.

I saw the movie last night and have a question about Rae (I don't know how the movie spells her name). I read in reviews that she is supposed to be Luke's daughter, but nowhere in the movie is that idea ever mentioned. It's implied, I guess, or did I blink and miss something?

Always considered the first one a glorified western and not sifi like 2001 or Interstellar.
