Free State of Jones

Not an easy movie to watch, but a very powerful story based on a real story.

If you need to appreciate your right to vote, this will do it.

So many examples that that still apply today.

First I wanted to stop watching, now I think I need to watch again.

I'm not usually a Matthew McConaughey fan, but he was powerful in this.

It's wonderful to see a view of the South in the Civil War that is not all "moonlight and magnolias". I know a few Southern apologists, who believe that the war was all about tariffs and nothing to do with slavery. I don't know if they've seen this movie.

In September - an excellent small story that I *think* most African Americans have at least a bit of handed down stories on -

But nice to have a tool/means to educate others.

If you get a chance - google his family today - and see who they 'split' black/white after his death.

I read how it differs from the movie and how complicated the family situation is.
