The official title of Star Wars: Episode VIII has been announced: The Last Jedi.
The news was announced in a tweet from the official Star Wars account, which read: Its official. STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI is the next chapter of the Skywalker saga. This December.#TheLastJedi

It also contained a link to a statement on starwars.com which said: We have the greatest fans in this or any other galaxy. In appreciation of the fans, we wanted them to be the first to know the title of the next chapter in the Skywalker saga.

This is out in December. We had one this past December and the December before that.
And if it's overkill, what's three Marvel movies per year? This is nothing.

But you can get why so many are enjoying it now? It's for their generation. The number of kids, and especially young girls, that got to go see this with their geek dads and are going to be inspired for a generation are significant.
It's fun to throw shade on TFA, I get that. But it's also good to look at the big picture impact.
