Watch Jim Carrey Slowly Lose His Mind in Surreal Andy Kaufman Documentary Trailer

We have officially gone through the looking glass and entered a new era of peak Jim Carrey weirdness. It was first ushered in this past September, when Carrey gave a surreal red carpet interview that featured this immortal line: “I don’t believe that you exist, but there’s a wonderful fragrance in the air.” Somewhere out there, Jaden Smith is taking notes.

This new Peak Carrey era has a more formal introduction in the form of a new trailer for Jim & Andy, a Netflix documentary that explores Carrey’s descent into the mind of Andy Kaufman during the making of the 1999 biopic Man on the Moon. As Carrey has explained before, he went a bit “psychotic” during the making of this film as he got into character to play the legendary experimental comedian. “Jim Carrey didn’t exist at that time,” the actor once said, claiming he refused to break character even once during filming. In the documentary, it becomes instantly apparent how true that was.
