"Annihilation" Feb 23 release.

Looks like in the vein of original Solaris, Event Horizon, Sunshine, maybe even Arrival - with great actresses! Thought-provoking alien mystery?

Based on the first book of the "Southern Reach Trilogy," by Jeff VanderMeer. File under "New Weird fiction - fantasy, science fiction and supernatural horror (Wiki)."

I never heard of the books, but this looks like something I could sit through!

I don't want to spoil the movie, didn't even know it existed till I saw the teaser, I grew up on Bradbury, Asimov, Clarke, Brown, etc but when they started going to "Hard" Sci-Fi" I lived in Alaska and fell off the genre for a few decades.

Cool that there is a series, something to read in sunnier months, just picked up Crichtons "Dragon Teeth" today, the only one of his I haven't read yet, that man knew how to tell a tale.

If you haven't yet check out Author Jeff Long, The Reckoning, The Descent, Deeper, Year Zero, The Wall and more, you will never look back, start with The Descent, you won't be sorry.

I'm very excited for the film only because of the creative side (the guy who wrote/directed Ex Machina). It's a difficult book to translate as the novel didn't use any character names, people only referenced by position. But it's an all-female crew going in with great actresses. This is a big screen film.

Haven't been able to find the third around here yet.

I bought the movie because the books were such a revelation on how far you can stretch your imagination and they are a little hard to first get into, but I like it.

The movie is an adaptation of the story but still works well to give the audience that otherworldly feeling the books do, I can't wait to find the last book now.

One thing, in the ending Ventriss when first seen has the face of a duplicate before she turns to face Lena, what happened to the real Ventriss?, or was she being assimilated?

Among twenty other questions.......

Great stuff.
