Boy Erased

The acting is terrific. The story, at least of the treatment itself, is actually somewhat understated in that his program involved very little physical violence. It is by no means an easy watch. Gerrard is the typical all American boy who goes off to college and runs into the wrong man. Then his family sends him to conversion camp. The film is told largely in flashback until he leaves the treatment. It may be a drive to go see it but it is worth it.

2. It is worth watching

I had a palate cleanser planned for right after. I went to a choral concert that was a great way to decompress.

3. I just saw it on Putlocker

I was surprised Crowe and Kidman would take such minor roles. It seemed to always be dark. Overall I thought it was kind of a sanitized movie, without a lot of nuance.

Interestingly Crowe did a role as a gay man in a movie in 1994, Sum of Us, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Made in 1994 without any angst to it.
