Related: About this forumFinally saw "Parasite" this afternoon.
It was a cold and dreary day here and perfect for the cinema. It was one of the more unusual movies I've seen. A clever and dark comedy, heavier on the dark than the comedy. It was long, although I don't know what I would have edited out. It did get Tarantino-esque towards the end, but then I like QT. It was entertaining and political. I don't know if it was Best Picture worthy because I didn't see all of the nominees. It sure deserves loads of praise, though. It was a breath of non-Hollywood fresh air.
Of note, all of the characters were likeable in their own way; both the ultra-rich family and the poor but resourceful family had their endearing qualities.

Each scene explained something crucial. The acting was flawless and I don't think it could have possibly been directed any better. The story itself, the screenplay, were sublime and shown through even with the sub-titles. Also, I suspect members of the Academy wanted to make a political statement about inclusion and diversity. Maybe all of those things?

La Coliniere
(895 posts)A remarkable film. Deserved all the Oscars it won. I also thought it had the best composed music of any movie I saw last year.
