(19,042 posts)I dont think many have any idea who Mame is and definitely not that character. Ive seen the movie and play but didnt remember that name as its been two decades Since I saw it. Maybe throw it on twitter and it will remind some.

one of my favorite movies..before you tag it as racist watch the movie...auntie mame was a liberal firebrand...

(15,701 posts)Had to special order it and I think I paid something like $25 for it.
She was definitely a liberal firebrand, but now that I have two adult daughters, I have changed my attitude about the way she was treated as a helpless female. Her attempts at employment during the depression were very funny (the switchboard operator scene is a crack up) but she was only successful when she was being funded and cared for by a man. Different times and different attitudes, for sure.
Peggy Cass was priceless too!

(8,541 posts)Years ago I took my grandchildren to a film festival...Auntie Mame was the feature film of the night...they loved it...and to this day when I get on my proverbial soapbox they say "Auntie Mame is back!"...yes she is!
