came during a stay at The Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, CO. I visited there back in the 1980's but just looked around the lobby and front area...kind of spooky...The hotel was owned by the designer of the Stanly Steamer car...they had one in the lobby...

hoping to instill a sense of loneliness and desperation, which her character would certainly be feeling. Probably went a little too far with it, as Duvall’s performance is often ranked in the top-ten worst acting lists.

I have read that the little boy who played Danny didn't even know he was in a horror movie until years later because Kubrick took great pain to not scare him. Not sure how true that is, but that's what I read.
