Looking for suggestions

Hi, guys,

I love, among others, contemporary indie flicks, especially romcom type stuff and movies with quirky characters. Offbeat stuff. Just to give you a couple of examples of the kind of stuff I like, I would say my favorite movie of this genre during the last ten years would be Waitress. Going back a little further, Secretary.

I've probably seen most of the movies you might recommend, but if I can pick up just a small handful of good movies I haven't seen, it'll be well worth it.

So, having a sense of what I'm looking for, suggestions?

Thanks in advance for any and all help

Edit: I may left the impression that I'm not interested in earlier stuff, like Party Girl. I most definitely am interested in "older" stuff, too.

My favorite Rom-Com, as it is actually romantic and funny!

The same director made another movie called "Happy Accidents" that I am not quite as fond of, but is also good.

I've seen em both, but greatly appreciate your suggestions. I loved Next Stop Wonderland, I'm a big Hope Davis fan. She's so versatile and exceptional in everything I've seen her in. If you'd like to see her in a very different role, check out American Splendor, which stars Davis and Paul Giammati, who just happens to be my favorite contemporary actor. Different and very offbeat and quirky (but with a heart of gold), I highly recommend it.

I agree that Next Stop Wonderland was much better than Happy Accidents, but D'Onofrio and Tomei were both very good in it. At the risk of sounding like I like everybody and everything (I dont), I can't think of a bad performance turned in by either of them. D'Onofrio in particular turned in two powerful performances, among others, in Full Metal Jacket and what I feel was the best episode of Homicide: Life on the Street. That episode was harrowing. I'm glad I saw it, but I could never sit through it a second time.

Thanks again for your suggestions. I appreciate it

For The Love Of Pete - its old - but very good! Streisand knocks it out of the park.

A bit more contemporary -

Safety Not Guaranteed
Sunshine Cleaning
About Time
Butter
Starter for 10
Romantics Anonymous (A good French Romantic comedy. Most American's dislike these because the leading man is seldom attractive and is usually older. Very good movie.)

I just watched Romantics Anonymous last week. Loved it! You have to see Priceless if you haven't already done so. I guarantee you'll love it

I have Safety Guaranteed and Sunshine Cleaning in the house. Love Amy Adams, really looking forward to Sunshine.

I've seen About Time. Also excellent.

Never heard of Butter or Starter for 10. I'll definitely check those out right away

Thanks!
