Stephen King is a gawd for some of the best stories, sometimes hard to put on the screen, but he is a gawd for writing the best novels of the scary.

(28,392 posts)My wife and I were delegates for Gary Hart...and he had a get together at his place in Bangor. In the morning , I ran my middle finger over a table saw blade as I was denutting the blade. Got it stitched and wrapped and had to keep my middle finger up the whole night. Steve thought it was funny. His wife Tabitha was from where we lived and had a great couple of convo's over the evening.
Also, I was coming back to Bangor International from a biz flight when they were shooting an airport fight scene for the Langoliers. That was pretty interesting to watch.
Also, my sister had a minor role in Thinner. She's a court reporter IRL and she got a scene to play a court reporter in the movie.

(5,036 posts)but I have never read Christine. The movie was mostly 'meh' for me. I don't know, it just didn't resonate with me the way The Shining did. Though, I understand that some Stephen King devotees take issue with Stanley Kubrick's adaption. But, it's in my top 25 of all time and easily my favorite horror movie, which may not mean much given I'm a fraidy cat.

(8,647 posts)I've read many Stephen King books, but don't recall that one.
Christine the movie is actually pretty solid, good pacing from beginning to end and doesn't fall apart. It's a product of the 80's and it shows but is a must-see for King fans. The acting is mediocre but doesn't detract significantly. The stop motion special effects are great and not something you see anymore.
I just finished rewatching the Lawnmower Man which is similar in many ways. But Lawnmower Man hasn't aged well. Those CGI special effects suuuuuuuuuck now.
