3. There are much more unpleasant scenes in this mess of a movie.

There are an inordinate amount of gratuitous sex scenes of ugly old men sweatily pounding away at Emma Stone's thin young body. All I could think was that the movie had to be written and directed by men. I checked, and yup, it was.

The movie describes itself as some sort of feminist coming of age parable, which is what caused me to go see it tonight. The synopsis of the movie states: "Brought back to life by an unorthodox scientist, a young woman runs off with a lawyer on a whirlwind adventure across the continents. Free from the prejudices of her times, she grows steadfast in her purpose to stand for equality and liberation."

Ending up in a brothel getting pounded by old men, who she finds revolting and who repel her by their putrid smell, is hardly "freeing herself of the prejudices of her times." She does it for money, not because she wants to. The creepy madam at the brothel teaches her that she cannot choose which customer she will sleep with; it's the men that get to choose, and they all want her because she is so young and beautiful. Emma Stone looks 16 in this movie. This movie is basically a child porn version of Frankenstein, and truly disturbing to watch. I don't know how it got a 93% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Emma Stone liked the idea enough to stretch herself unpleasantly. Probably win another Oscar.
