Klay Thompson set to leave Warriors (sfgate.com)

The Golden State Warriors have likely missed out on Paul George after he declined his player option on Saturday. Now, it looks like their pursuit of George has pushed franchise legend Klay Thompson away from the only team he’s played for.

The Athletic’s Shams Charania and Anthony Slater reported on Saturday afternoon that the Warriors are “preparing to lose” Thompson in free agency, saying the two player and team have had “close to no communication” in the past two weeks. The Athletic’s duo also identified the Dallas Mavericks, Los Angeles Clippers and Los Angeles Lakers as teams “expected to be among strong suitors” for Thompson. (Klay's Dad, Mychal is radio color commentator for Lakers games)

Sounds like strikeout on Paul George, two strikes on Klay, and everything else up in the air.
What's Likely? Sign and trade?
Mavs?
Clippers?
Lakers?
Orlando?

Keep an eye on Chris Paul. Keep an eye on Wiggins.
Must be some negotiating going on.

His trade to SA could be the beginning of a new journey for him, going beyond his tutoring of Wemby and co.

I harbor the continuing concern that all-time players don't make the best coaches, because:
a) The game cam easier to them, especially mentally, and they may get frustrated teaching things they didn't need to be taught.
b) Their ego & sense of the game served them so well that a different approach makes no sense.
The veteran players who went on to be great coaches generally were role players.
Jackson, Riley, Nelson, Carlisle, Sloan, et al.
Lenny Wilkins was a really good player & a good coach, but a great player/great coach? I don't know about that.
I actually could see Paul starting one of those b-ball academies. I think he'd be good with young, young players.
