Kyrie Irving to have MRI Friday after leaving Game 1 with knee injury
Cleveland Cavaliers guard Kyrie Irving was forced to limp off to the locker room during overtime of Game 1 of the NBA Finals because of an apparent knee injury on Thursday.
"My ACL's fine, my MCL's fine," Irving said. "[There are] other parts in the knee that could affect what's going on. But obviously I hope it's just a reaggravation of originally what was going on. But, I mean, it's a little disappointing, frustrating just cause, just coming in I felt amazing."
When he talked to reporters, Irving looked rather discouraged by this development. When he was asked if he'd need an MRI, he paused then nodded slowly. When he eventually got up and left, he was on crutches.
"It's very tough to see," Cavaliers forward LeBron James said. "I see how hard he worked these last eight games just to get himself to play at this level tonight. To see him walk out the locker room with crutches just now, it's a tough blow for our team.
