Bucknell women's basketball announces non-conference schedule

LEWISBURG — The Bucknell Bison women’s basketball program starts the 2024-25 campaign with a vigorous and potent non-conference schedule. Bucknell will play two Power Four teams, hit the open road six times, and start the season away from Sojka Pavilion for four games. The slate should have the Bison women well-prepared for the various challenges posed by Patriot League play. Bucknell will hit the rewind button on five opponents from 2023-24.

“As always, we looked for opportunities to challenge ourselves in non-conference,” said head coach Trevor Woodruff. “Our objective is preparing ourselves for Patriot League competition by playing against diverse styles. Starting with four straight road games will give us a good idea of where we are in our development and the slate of home games should all be very competitive and entertaining for our fans.”
Bucknell opens at Penn State for the second-straight season when the Bison travel Interstate 80 on Nov. 4. The Orange and Blue fell 94-51 last year.

Bucknell remains in the Keystone State on Nov. 9 to play at Pittsburgh. The teams last met in 2017 when the Panthers won 57-39. Pittsburgh holds a 2-1 series advantage.

The Bison depart Pennsylvania for New Jersey on Nov. 13 to play Northeast Conference foe Fairleigh Dickinson University. Bucknell scratched out a 49-44 win last year, moving to a 7-1 series lead. Three days later, the team completes its opening four-game trek with a visit to newly christened Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference member Merrimack. The Bison swamped the Warriors 64-44 last year at Sojka in the series’s opening salvo.
