Paige Bueckers and UConn women's basketball team attract record crowd at Creighton Saturday
UConn women's basketball star Paige Bueckers has been known to draw a big crowd wherever she goes, and the CHI Health Center in Omaha was no different on Saturday.
With Bueckers and the No. 6 Huskies visiting, Creighton hosted the Big East game at the18,000-seat downtown facility. And UConn attracted a crowd of 11,414, marking a record attendance for the Bluejays.
"It was a good environment," Bueckers said after the game. "They had a great crowd, obviously, so it was a shift from what I've been playing in, in the other arena. So to be at this arena, to have a great crowd, a great show out, it's awesome."
The previous high for a Creighton women's game was 4,439. Creighton's on-campus arena, which holds 2,950, was being used Saturday for a high school basketball event.
