The WNBA's Toronto Tempo hire Monica Wright Rogers as the club's first general manager
he Toronto Tempo have their first basketball boss.
Monica Wright Rogers, a two-time WNBA champion and most recently the assistant general manager of the Phoenix Mercury, will be the first general manager of the expansion Tempo.
ESPN.com first reported Wednesday night that the 36-year-old Wright Rogers will join the Tempo as the team’s first true basketball employee.
Tempo president Teresa Resch told the Star late last month that she wanted to have a basketball executive in place around the start of the WNBA’s 2025 free-agent market, which opens this week.
The Tempo won’t play their first game until May 2026 but Resch wants an executive on board to follow the process and prepare every part of the Tempo’s basketball operations during the coming WNBA season.
