"We're the first ones to starve, we're the first ones to die
"Dropkick Murphys The Workers Song"
"We're the first ones to starve, we're the first ones to die
The first ones in line for that pie-in-the-sky
And we're always the last when the cream is shared out
For the worker is working when the fat cat's about"
We have to push Union. Music is the best way to get people to remember. To be interested. It was this commercial that first brought Unions to my consciousness. I was just a kid and I still remember every word. I remember being so happy there are women out there that were organized and being heard.
Look for the Union Label 1978 ILGWU
Unfortunately, the ILGWU no longer exists. It merged with by the ACTWU and became UNITE. But for 95 years it was one of the strongest Unions around.

(3,533 posts)Global this, global that, we have been slowly brainwashed with the protectionism argument that our love for fellow Americans has diminished.
After WW11 we were united in victory and togetherness yet now we are so segmented the corporatists dance right thru us.
We must focus on Americans first and don't let the corporatists use our social Populist kindness for others as a tool to stuff their pockets with global dollars.

(160 posts)I'm digging how there seems to be more posts related to labor. As things become more difficult for "everyday Americans" we need to let so-called Democratic politicians we aren't going to take it anymore.

Never did and never will
Don't want no religion
And as far as we can tell
We ain't gonna take you
Never did and never will
We're not gonna take you
We forsake you
Gonna break you
Let's forget you better still.
OK, the rape you line SUCKS and I changed it. I didn't realize how relevant this song is right now. Actually, my change, just for this particular case, makes it better

Which side are you on?

So great your mom wasn't there. But I bet she suffered guilt, that, of course, she shouldn't. Just a natural reaction.
I almost posted Which Side Are You On!

The Dropkick Murphys made something with that title (which side are you on). I saw it on You Tube, but never listened.
Florence Reece made a version when she was an older woman. If she ever had a good voice, she didn't have it by the time of the video that's on You Tube. Still, that is the one I listen to. There is something so pure about her singing the song she wrote as a young woman.

It is in the documentary about the strike in the 70s. I'm too tired at the moment to find it. Didn't sleep last night. But WillyT posted it within the last few months.
Sorry about my fire confusion. Blaming that on being too tired.
