So I got a call from our pals at the DSCC tonight
and, like I've been doing for several years now, I told them I don't donate to the party only to individual candidates.
Predicted response which included a line about protecting Social Security and Medicare. I replied that I wasn't buying that because there were plenty of Democrats who'd go along with a chained CPI and who wouldn't even allow single payer to be mentioned during the health care debate. And I said I was sick of corporate Democrats. I was told by the caller she was hearing that a lot.
This is where it took a new twist.
Did you know, my fellow progressives, that the DSCC is not only working tirelessly to get rid of the Republican senators but also corporate Dems and return the party to it's traditional values? The woman told me that the DSCC wants to elect more senators like Warren, Franken and Sanders and that the DNC is right there with them.
It was news to me as well.

And then she did laugh. I actually liked her she sounded like she had a sense of humor and didn't quite buy what she was selling herself.
So often now it isn't volunteers making the calls but someone doing it because they need the money. I did tell her that, if she was a volunteer I'd stay on the phone and argue with her but if it was a job for her I wouldn't waste any more of her time. At that point she did, very cheerfully, wish me a good night.

Were fighting to protect our Democratic champions, and were recruiting outstanding candidates across the nation to challenge obstructionist Republicans.
http://www.dscc.org/about (Read fighting for incumbents, no matter what, as always.)
Did you ask why the DSCC did so poorly in the last two midterms? Did you ask them to say hi to Senators Lamont, Halter, Meek and Sestak? Did you ask them to say hi to all the members of the nonexistent Senate Progressive Caucus? (Senator Sanders caucuses with the shrinking House Progressive Caucus.)
BTW, isn't Blue Dog Tester head of the DSCC now? And isn't endorser of Republicans, Debbie Wasserman Shultz, head of the DNC now? And didn't she succeed Blue Dog Tim Kaine?
"My fellow progressives," aka, fundraising spiel to give if someone with half a brain answers the phone. There is at this point no DSCC fundraising spiel to give if someone with a whole brain answers the phones. Maybe they'll get that version ready before they call you again. Should be interesting. Fingers crossed!

(62,325 posts)Before I would believe that they are trying to return to their traditional values, I would like to see big changes in the leadership of the Dem Party. First to go should be Debbie Wasserman.
Enough is enough. And I hope they are getting the message.
Last time they us, I told them pretty much what you told them. The woman argued with me, told me even if we didn't like the candidate we needed to win to STOP the Repubicans.
I told her we bought that in 2008 and saw nothing, no prosecutions of Wall St criminals, War criminals, in fact we heard EXCUSES for them.
Told her I would support candidates directly who supported US, not Wall St.
I also asked why they needed money from the people when they were receiving so much Corporate money. And that the people were better off donating to candidates THEY choose because the Party has been backing Third Wayers many times losing because of that.
