Sativa/Indica question:

Regrettably, it's been many long years since I've had the opportunity to smoke pot. Mostly because where I live now, I have no idea how to get any - and even if I did, my workplace does random drug testing. I think it's a fucked up policy, but I do love my job and haven't wanted to put it at risk. The word is, though, that they're thinking of finally ditching the random drug tests - to save money, if nothing else.

With my years of regular pot smoking long behind me, I'm pretty much in the dark as those of you who have dispensaries at hand dicuss this and that different strain, and their myriad exotic or odd-sounding names.

The sum total of my very dated knowledge is this: there were always some kinds of pot that I found to be wonderfully mentally and physically energizing, and some kinds that tended to render one somewhat comatose. I always preferred the former. I used to love smoking a joint and getting on with a big project of housecleaning, or engaging in animated conversation about this or that, or sitting down to write mad, rambling essays about something or other.

So, my question is - which kind is the energizing kind? Sativa or Indica? I'm taking a trip out to Seattle soon to visit my son, and fully intend to take advantage of the availability of the products there. I just want to make sure I have some idea of how to identify what I really want.

Thanks in advance!

But it really depends on the strain, and with so many hybrid strains, it can go either way. I've had clear-headed sativas like Jack Here that are wonderfully relaxing, and stupidifying indicas that were incredibilly energetic. The best advice I have is to look at strain reviews on sites like leafly.com, and even better, ask the dispensary you're buying from. They'll be able to help you pick out exactly what characteristics you want. Enjoy Seattle--it's gorgeous up here right now!

It's physically relaxing for me, but very very mentally simulating. A perfect conversation strain, and actually the one my roommate and I used to clean on

Yes, I'm looking forward to being in Seattle - not my first time, and I know firsthand how beautiful it is this time of year.

Sativas have little to no CBN. CBN is the cannabinoid that causes you to feel, 'burnt out' after coming down. It is what gives that 'couch lock' high.

So go for Sativa if you want energy, Indica if you want sleep.

I like Indicas to knock me flat on my back so I can get some REM sleep.

I just didn't know at the time that there was a difference in weed strains.

Apparently, I was smoking mainly Sativa back in the day. I simply learned to time it so I wouldn't smoke too close to bedtime.
