Cannabis
Related: About this forumMaybe instead of "recreational use" we use "adult use" in advocating for legalizing cannabis
I was listening to a conversation about legalizing cannabis and they used "adult use" instead of "recreational use" on ballots about legalizing marijuana. Recreational sounds like playground and implies that kids will get it.
I know it's just different words, but it is about getting support in ballot initiatives and public opinion.
Oh, and no I'm not high right now.

"Defend your home like the red-blooded, muscular, desirable, patriotic American he-man that you are!" sells a lot more guns than "Take out an entire schoolyard full of children with one twitch of your finger."

Recreation use sounds like you are going smoking or something.
Marijuana was a word coined for racist reason by William R Hearst.

(1,784 posts)The word "cannabis " is all-encompassing ,describes the whole plant, and treats the plant as medicine.
Hearst thought that cannabis crops would interfere with his timber interests. He owned hundreds of newspapers, and orchestrated a propaganda campaign featuring black and brown men committing acts of violence and lawlessness. He took the Mexican folk name, meaning Mary Jane, and called it marihuana.
