CA taxes...WOW! Just got my RX

filled and I got a copy of the new taxes. It is almost the same for both recreational and medical. State sales...15%, County (San Diego)...7.75%, Local Municipality for recreational only...5%. Total for recreational...27.75% and medical...22.75%.

An 1/8 for top shelf flower is $55-60 before taxes.

And doesn't everyone get to grow up to 6 plants at home for personal use?

buying mine for about 5 years at dispensaries or through delivery services since I do have the medical card and it is easier than trying to find it on my own. My old suppliers were usually old boyfriends so I always got mine really, really cheap through them. I can't even grow a cactus so I won't be trying to grow anything ever again.

Top shelf eighths here are around $50-$60 after taxes. Quality is a challenge here in the desert too. I assume the NoCal stuff is better quality than anything available here

and as for you sick medical patient, to hell w/you.

They have got what they wanted and we pay the price in the end yet it was those same people that got the whole thing going to begin with via prop. 215.

How very sad.

Stick around for a long time. Thats above "street" prices, before taxes. The shops will become edible, extracts sellers though. Buds? 50 an 1/8 maximum for primo sativas, 60 for indicas. But oz.s are under 200 for anything. 1500 top grade a pound. (The retailers pay even less than that).

Keep your medical card, thats untaxed.
One problem in the switch. But a boon for me, is that now. Growers that grow in counties that have a strict ordinance in place, are now shut out of the legal market. They werent with prop 215's lax rules, but now they are. That really screws counties that are known as pot producers, out of participating. I lived in one. I moved because they were putting in a super strict ordinance after a pro pot measure failed.
I now live in a county that wants to be the Napa county of pot. Everyone is gearing up, tripling their gardens. Greenhouses for light dep operations.
It aint easy though. 25 plants and youve got a full time job. 100 plants youve got to be on drip, have a 🚜, water on site, and help during the season. After harvest takes a lot of help. Even if you machine trim. 50 days of trimming for 25 2lb plants. 5lb plants are not uncommon, although ive never come close.

Its going to be interesting how this shakes out. Im a hobby grower now, so I have no dog in the fight, but a lot of people are going to find this an boon, others will be without their way of life.
