Cannabis
Related: About this forumHave you ever used cannabis to treat a sick pet?
My 7 pound dog has some arthritis. I bought liquid "my best friend" 1:1, 60 mg CBD. :60 mg THC.
For dogs weighing 3-49 pounds you are supposed to give one drop. That seems like a lot for such a small dog. Are there any side effects? Can you see an improvement if your pet's behavior right away? Does it make them sleepy or spaced out? How often do you give it?

Maybe there is a THC-free option for your dog.

(21,068 posts)Sadly, it did not help her.
She was slowly poisoned by that flea crap that contains SPINOSAD/SPINETORAM.
Nothing could have changed things for her, she died anyway.
I don't know that this had an effect on her or not. She was so sick it was difficult to know.
Best of luck.

(2,615 posts)A Lab x Shepard pup got an appropriate dose and underwent a re-birth & bonding experience with his new Human friend. Smartest, happiest, friendliest dog I
ever knew. He had a small (12 ac) farm to protect and he
did that quite well. He was fearless in a fight.
That was 40 years ago. His name was OK.
I haven't had another dog since.

(16,402 posts)Since I had some 1:1 CBD/THC for myself, I massaged a drop on a little bald spot behind her ear. Ten minutes later, she was sprawled out, purring, and the most relaxed I've seen her in a long time; then she took a nice long nap. I was just experimenting to see if it would help her, which it obviously did, and she had no side effects.
Next, I bought the pet formulation of 20:1 CBD/THC, which is given by mouth. She hated it and getting it into her was a fight, so that bottle's going to a friend with an old, arthritic dog.
Next time I go to the dispensary, I'm buying the 20:1 formulation for people, which is a clear, concentrated oil, not milky and viscous like the pet formulation. Meanwhile, I'll continue to massage a drop of my 1:1 into her skin when she appears to be in pain.
The stuff works, but I'm not sure if it's the CBD, the THC, the combination, or the 1:1 strength that's doing it. The next experiment will be to see if the 20:1 works just as well.

(18,282 posts)...and I am NOT... REPEAT NOT.... promoting this site esp since they just dropped my acct for no reason...its elitedealsclub.com I found out about this site from somewhere about 6 yrs ago and I have ordered literally 100's of $ of items from them. But I want other pet owners to be able to pick this stuff up. There is NO catch. Check it out and look at their rules. I have about 10 bottles of CBD for my 13.5 yr old Golden Retriever and I do see a difference.
