March 1st on the right, today on the left
:large
Some of the backstory:
I was given the clone March 1st by a local dispensary as seen on the right above. It had been overwatered and the potting
mix was very alkaline. pH of about 8.
I got a cheap 3 way meter from Lowe's, it shows moisture, pH, and light meter.
I messed up and read the cheap meter wrong at first, but ended up making pH strips from red cabbage and that got me
in the ballpark and allowed me to figure out the pH portion of the meter. Once I got the pH balanced somewhat it started
to grow much quicker. I used 1 ml of white vinegar to 2 qts. water at first to lower the pH.
I found Alaska Naturals Organic liquid fertilizer on clearance sale for 5 bucks, using 1 ml per quart of water to feed it the last two
water cycles.
On sunny days it goes outside. Inside it is lit by two led full spectrum bulbs and 3 cfls now. Sometimes a homemade
led fixture.
Just short of two months since I got it and I think it is ready to flower.

(23,738 posts)It might be getting a bit spindly on the left, and that's usually a sign that it's searching for more light.
How big is the light in the hood I can see in the upper left of the photo?

(3,988 posts)turned off on the left is led full spectrum grow light.
I have been putting it in the sun as well the last few days, about
6 hours per day.

(23,738 posts)It might help if you can keep the lights spatially distributed, so that one might shine more light on the lower leaves to keep them from reaching out. Every bit of energy it puts into growing stalk is energy it won't be able to use to build leaves and buds. I used to have limited success getting healthy buds with just florescants , but often used them during the initial growth phase.
Right around the size you have yours, not much higher, I used to switch to 10 hours of light and 14 hours of darkness to force budding, then try to get as much light on them as I could until they finished. That timing will depend on how much room you have to grow in.
Tip: Try to avoid disturbing the plants dark cycle -- shining light on them when it's supposed to be 'night time' screws up their biological clock a bit.

(3,988 posts)I have intended to let the last topping grow out to 3 or 4 sets of leaves
than start the flowering.
It looks like it has good genes, too. Happy Budding!

(24,164 posts)Your plant sure has leafed out in just a few weeks. Mine only did that when I pinched them.

(3,988 posts)I got the last clone they had. I didn't think to ask when they gave it to me, I was just there
to pick up some flower. I called later and was told it was Dark Star, but I looked back at their
facebook page for the giveaway and they mentioned two different strains.
I'll have to look that up.

(3,988 posts)The big lamp is a medical or dental lamp with one of the led bulbs in it and
another led bulb and cfl bulb hanging off of it. Works great for this, can adjust height easily.
The fan came from a computer power supply, running at 5 volts, the normal
12 volts was too much.

The plant got it's first 12 hour darkness period last night, going into flower.

(3,988 posts)I had a twig towards the bottom break twice, so I decided to try it out. Harvested on 6/5, tried tonight.
This is what I harvested.
If this little bud from the bottom of the plant is any indication, will be some killer weed.

(3,988 posts)If so, how close does this look? I don't want too much amber, but a little.
Never grown Cannabis, but I will say to all. NEVER use tap water for any plant. I capture the drip from my A/C (5 free gallons of Distilled Water Daily) to water everything. My plants all over never so healthy. As well, I do capture rain water. Tap water is so full of chemicals, caused my puppy to have Bladder Stones.

(5,123 posts)the buds and leaves. They'll look like tiny mushrooms- each one with a stem and a little head. The best, most potent time to harvest is when the little mushroom heads begin to darken and fall off. Don't wait till they all fall off, as soon as you see some dark and/or missing crystal heads in a couple spots on the plant, it's go time.

(3,988 posts)I don't want to let it go to long, only a little cbd production.
It almost seems some of the trichomes are turning a little amber
at the top of the buds.

(5,123 posts)I'd say it's pretty darn close. But it's hard to tell from the pics, only a handful of the crystals are in complete focus. A magnifying glass will be much more accurate for checking the little mushroom heads all over the plant. The red hairs are normal, more will turn from white to red before you harvest.
Ahhh. Kind bud. It's so pretty. Wish I could still partake. It's been years. In my late 20's/early 30's it started making me anxious as hell. Sativa or indica makes no difference, both make me anxious to nearly the point of a panic attack. And anxious over stupid stuff like "Omg, we are almost out of kitty litter." Sucks. It started out happening 1 out of every 10 times and, over the course of a couple years, increased to 8 or 9 out of every 10 times. Sigh. I finally just gave it up altogether.

I knew she was finished and time to harvest.
And finally, the next generation....
