Is it just me or does legal dope not smell like dope?

Back in the day of $30 ounces, and even as recently as a couple years ago buying weed on the black market, pot always had a smell that was uniquely its own. No matter the strain, open the baggie and the aroma was one that identified what you were smelling as pot. Fast forward to current days and legal weed, and the smell is nothing like the old days, and while I thought originally it was just me, a few friends and I were talking about this the other day and we all agreed. One of my friends chalked it up to current growing methods, which admittedly I know very little about, yet I long for the days when pot smelled like pot.

1. I believe you are reminiscing about what we called

Colombian Gold which had a sweet, appley with a hint of musk smell. Sinsemilla, both legal and illegal, smells like a Christmas tree. I think it has something to do with jacking up the THC levels because the new stuff is waaaay stronger.

The legal stores here have cranked the price up $350 or more an Oz. A neighbor came by last week and needed some money for a trip and sold me one for $75. Every bit as good as the store bought. Now I'm good for months.

for flower in NorCal. Lots of places selling .5 oz for ~$60. I guess more people are growing their own.

6. Yeah the smell of a chocolate bar or a gummy just isn't the same

Not to mention my experience is that edibles are useless but I'm glad other people enjoy them.

very strange. The first several edibles affected me strongly, but now I hardly feel anything from them!

Maybe need to up my dosage.

I agree, a lot of it today does smell different.

ETA: Although, the exhale smoke still smells the same to me.

Now you have to buy them if you want to grow pot. On average, about $10 for a sensimilla type seed that's guaranteed to be female, and isn't that ironic?

10. Curing and feeding

11. i grow my own and I cure it with a small slice of Cosmic Crisp apple so its got a nice sweet scent..

...but it still smells a LOT like pot. The only store bought I have are some sativa pre-rolls and they smell ok
