I'm surrounded by all these recreational pot stores and I've never indulged. I'm just starting to get curious.

(11,869 posts)Cannabis does nothing for me. I envy those that find enjoyment in it like alcohol, the sweet mellow happiness of a nice bottle of wine. My edible would be some nice spicy shrimp, garlic scallops, or a great pizza.

(7,674 posts)Everything I've heard about CBD is it's specifically for people who want the medical effects of cannabis but don't want to be "stoned", such as children with epilepsy. I had a neighbor for whom CBD was the only thing that brought any actual relief to her long term joint-pain due to fibromyalgia.

(6,797 posts)So I tried the chocolate for the same reason, again nothing. I'm ready to try smoking to see if that helps.

(7,674 posts)I'm sure it's like any painkiller - different ones work on different types of pain, and it will depend on how your pain manifests.
Cannabis is a vasodilator (which is why people's eyes go red) so if the pain is muscular, it might help somewhat via general relaxation and increased blood flow. I've read that THC actually *would* be a good remedy for asthma since it can relax and open the bronchial tubes, but smoking it essentially negates the effect.
If your pain is due to bone or nerve problems, cannabis may not work in a way that can relieve it. Similar to various other painkiller types. It's possible some people who use it for pain may just benefit from being zoned out and more capable of mentally dealing with it.
It helps with nausea in many people, but for a certain unlucky few it causes nausea. It commonly causes "munchies" increased appetite which is a good effect for cancer or AIDS patients. Myself, I don't get munchies. I've cooked an entire elaborate meal for other people while high and then just not been in the correct mood to to eat any of it myself for hours afterward.

(7,674 posts)I don't know if this is actually true, but everyone I know who partakes has mentioned this. I've experienced it myself - nothing really seemed to happen the first time I smoked in college, then the second time I was so high I couldn't finish a sentence.
Don't know why, but it could be due to inexperience (not knowing what's going to happen and recognizing the effect) and misplaced expectations; others have said that your brain actually needs to learn how to make use of it - like priming the dopamine pump.

(7,674 posts)Many a person on a trip to Amsterdam has had a bad first experience since edibles can be slow-acting and the full effects may take up to an hour to manifest. If you have a brownie and don't feel anything right away, resist the temptation to eat more thinking it's not "working".
A high edible dose likely won't harm you permanently, but could cause at best a really long nap, at worst an extended bout of paranoia, nausea, and a general bad time.

(8,513 posts)It wasn't a cookie, and wasn't a brownie. It was absolutely delicious, and I was never able to find it again.
Actually i only went back out to that particular dispensary one more time after the first time because more opened that were closer. I can't smoke, so edibles are all I've ever tried.

(8,513 posts)It was sort of like a rice-krispie treat. Delicious. More potent than previous choices. I got it specifically for the first debate between Joe Biden and OrangeTraitor.

(8,513 posts)But I was strongly feeling it. I only used the first two doses/servings/whatever, and gave the rest to my daughter. I just don't have the luxury of time to indulge because of responsibilities.

(15,042 posts)My deceased mother made them so delicious years ago!
I don't prepare food from "scratch" as much anymore, but the ridged Cheez-Its are pretty good! The grooves make them more flavorful!
Edit: Oh, not just munchies! Pot could be added to those brownies, anyway.

(16,953 posts)I love cookies. Just don't get the ones that are one small cookie you break down into 10 doses. Stupid imo....too easy to overdose.
IcyPeas
(22,610 posts)the ones I saw on their site were 10 cookies per bag, 10mg each. I'd probably only try half of that at first.

(16,953 posts)so I got the little ones by mistake, I had to half the already really small piece...kind of a pain in the ass....got a good buzz though...

(69,860 posts)They're a product by Revolution. They make both indica & sativa versions.
They are a 2 pack, 100mg THC each. They also make a double size, but my wife still just eats half at a time. Same price, as there's only one super fudgie in the package.
She also likes Peanut Butter Buddha. Made by "Incredible".
She says both taste great.
