That I am "wasting my vote, that to vote for Bernie, is a vote for a Republican!" That I must be a Hillary Hater!!! That I am not a real DEMOCRAT that I must be a independent that, a vote for Bernie is a vote for a socialist and that I am a Republican troll on DU trying to stir the pot. That I must be a fucking dreamer....I should take my opinion else where...that people of color will not vote for Bernie.... That Asians don't vote anyway...

(16,702 posts)will not show up for the general election. I know more HRC supporters in 2008 that never showed up for the general than did. They preferred McCain to win that that "lying ni****" win. Of course this was the Little Rock area though. Other areas may have been different. So this election I see the "n" word replaced by Socialist or Communist and the same script used. I am just happy I am retired and don't have to be around them any more except for the occasional phone call. The red button on the phone handles the call pretty well.

I am disgusted by the depths of malice and mendacity to which some Hillary supporters will sink -nay, gleefully dive - not to support their candidate, but to demean and denigrate those who support Bernie. (3,111 posts)I know that the populace, including many Progressives, have been convinced to hold so many contrary views, by the DLC, Third Way, Ronald Raygun, Grover Norquist, right-wing talk radio, for years and years and years. False views, like government can't do anything right or administer anything. Well, Social Security and Medicare may not be perfect models of efficiency, but they sure as heck are popular and needed and effective!!!
And for many Progressives, that one must compromise, that one must be "realistic", etc.
Bernie speaks truth to power, and unabashedly. Like Franklin D. Roosevelt, another titan who should probably be revered among all others in the Progressive pantheon.
Folks like Bill Clinton and yes, Barack Obama, while certainly doing great things and "being better than the other side" have to be seen as relatively weak in the fight against oligarchy and corporatism in America. And that is not because they were up against more forces. That's because they chose to believe they needed to adopt the views of the other side to win.
Bernie Sanders, in contrast, is not afraid to speak his mind and to speak what is true. And this is resonating with so many people who in their hearts understand the same things to be true. And now they have someone to fight behind.
I'm behind Bernie Sanders all the way. As long as he's in the fight, I'm with him. He is getting the proper word out, that people can feel intuitively in their hearts as true. There is nothing like that out there elsewhere, and that's why I'm absolutely convinced he can win and be the great President that we need right now.
Your vote wasted?: No way. It's for perhaps the best guy of all in the fight for a decent life for the average American. How could that be a wasted vote.
Cast you vote against apathy, against brainwashing, against the corporate powers that be, agains the faulty decisions of the Supreme Court, against the Third Way Democrats, against the erroneous belief that government cannot be helpful so much be done away with, against outsourcing jobs to other countries, against TPP, and against those "realists" who insist it can't be done. Well, not it can't, unless you try. Unless you do it.
Just do it!!!! Go Bernie Go!

I feel that I cannot help their problem, but I will damned if they project their inability to think to me an as individual.
One of things I believe we learn in earth school is to use the thinking process to stand firm on the logic life teaches. If we pay attention to this logic, we can actually advance our self-love and society as a whole.

That I must be a fucking oligarch....I should take my opinion elsewhere...that people of modest means will not vote for Bernie.... That the middle class doesn't vote anyway...
okay fine. So guess what? I'm still undecided, and my vote in the primary is going to the candidate that convinces me they are the one I want to see in the Oval Office above the rest of them.

(12,769 posts)I thought I was going for fun but turns out I am going to be a spotter. Don't really know what it entails except keeping people calm and out of trouble or something like that. Hope I am up to the task.

(17,656 posts)An actual liberal!
Bernie is the first presidential candidate I will get to vote for who is more liberal than me!
That's hard to believe.
So, I have a hard time understanding why some Democrats don't embrace the idea of having Bernie as the President.
We must change.
We must grow.
We must become the best that we can be.
We are still the ones we've been waiting for . . . but this time, we want change for reals!

(2,570 posts)He is the only candidate. I don't think I can vote for a Hillary if she is the nominee. She would be more of the same.
You're not alone, Yui! 😼
yuiyoshida
(42,976 posts)the first election. If Hillary wins it, I will support her, but half heartedly. I don't and would never vote for an alternative, and if Bernie can't win the first one, I will go with option 2. Writing in his name won't help him. Above all A Dem has to win over a Republican.

(631 posts)I'm voting for Bernie now, but when she gets the nod, and I don't think there is much doubt about it, I'll vote for her. There's a lot more at stake than either her or Bernie, after all!
