O'Malley impresses Iowans, but many not sold yet.

Martin O'Malley pitched his vision for boosting clean energy jobs, cutting big student loan debts and retooling the federal government using big data over a three-day trip across Iowa that ended here along the Mississippi River on Saturday.

Along the campaign trail, O'Malley regularly left Iowans with the same opinion of him. They're impressed by the 52-year-old former Maryland governor's energy and liberal talking points. But they're not all won over yet.

"At this point, we are listening (to all the candidates)," said Gene Ficken, 71, a Democrat and former state representative who spoke with O'Malley in Independence before the city's morning Fourth of July parade. "He's the kind of person people are going to look at, and I really believe he has some potential here."

1. Something is working for him

I see we now have posts on the GD primary board trying to discredit him and paint him as a "third way" trojan horse. Guess the right wing smear machine has decided he may be a threat.

I think once the debates start things will change. The public has to hear from all of the candidates on how they will take on the issues, not just talk about how bad things are, but actually come up with plans to fix things, and O'Malley has shown he has plans to back up what he says, and that will change the minds of many.

and it would be 'nice' if DU, of all places, would avoid/ignore the smear machine and ADDRESS THE SUBSTANCE!

4. I find it very strange that so many are calling for a personal apology for something

he has no control over.

The accusation that he is a 3rd Way'er is also strange when nothing he has ever done comports to that political alignment is also very strange.
