He's right - this is a perspective of a new generation.
And he's also right re Republican Governors complicity in redistricting in 2010 - and how as a result we have a polarizing House that is not reflective of America.
And on that note folks - while we are working for O'Malley - we need to find local candidates (Boroughs, Villages, Towns and even cities) who are aligned with his vision to run next year if a position is up for election.
I can be a bit pugnacious about Trenton NJ - but I have to be. It's January 2017 and in my O'Malley as CIC - I expect my borough will be able to move our power lines underground, offer public wifi, allow our undocumented new Americans to come out of the shadows, and ensure our state police never again feel they have the right to sit down a few minority teenagers in my town with guns trained on them - and our local PD having to come to their rescue -
The rescue of the brown teenagers they PROTECT.
Key take away from the Maddow interview - Congress doesn't represent America right now. And he KNOWS if he wins - its going to be a constant fight with them. So he needs us fighting from the bottom up while he fights top down.

(135,884 posts)because (my view) repugs have done their homework for YEARS, and have had the locals lined up. Will in fact take Dems a LONG time to remedy this. Next redistricting: 2020
Here's ONE district that may get it right, in VA: http://hamptonroads.com/2015/07/mcauliffe-calls-special-session-congressional-redistricting

(11,833 posts)I agree with you & O'Malley. Congress doesn't accurately represent American right now. Younger people especially are much more forward-looking. They aren't concerned with the phony 'moral' issues. They want peace and prosperity at home and abroad. As you say, we need to keep fighting from the bottom up while others fight more from the top down. Great observations. I like his optimism and his emphasis on getting things done in the Maddow interview. Look forward to seeing longer interviews with him too.

(33,445 posts)Something we - as Democratic voters as a whole aren't acknowledging . . .
The Republicans with many of the TEA faction - have taken over local offices. We can't wait on national leadership to solve that problem - only we can solve that. That means we have to be on the School Board and Town Council. If there is a volunteer position be it the Community Arts Council or the Town Environmental community - take it. Death by a thousand cuts from the bottom up.
When O'Malley is President we are going to see a massive push to educate ALL of our children well. His record of making this happen and forward platform make that clear.
He needs an army on the School Board, coaching little league, on the PTA - down in the trenches working from the bottom up.
