Martin O'Malley

Former Maryland Gov. Martin OMalley got some evil looks from Democratic National Committee chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) when he slammed the sparse debate schedule at the DNCs summer meeting.
OMalley, who is polling far behind Hillary Clinton and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), began by reminding the Minneapolis crowd hes carried a lot of water for this donkey.
While the Republicans put their backwards ideas forward before an audience of more than 20 million Americans. We put our forward-thinking ideas on the backburner and try to hide them from the airwaves, he said.
There are only six DNC-sanctioned debates, with the only Iowa debate two months before the caucus and only one debate scheduled in New Hampshire. The first Dem debate is Oct. 13 in Nevada.
Four debates and only four debates we are told not asked before voters in our earliest states make their decision. This is totally unprecedented in our party. This sort of rigged process has never been attempted before, OMalley said. Whose decree is it? Where did it come from? To what end? For what purpose? What national or party interest does this decree serve?
And the New Hampshire debate is cynically wedged into the high point of the holiday shopping season so as few people watch it as possible. Is this how the Democratic Party selects its nominee, or are we becoming something else,
something less? Whatever happened to open debates and the fifty state strategy? Their partys leading candidate scapegoats immigrant families. He launches racist attacks on entire ethnic groups of Americans to the delight of David Duke and other white supremacists and our response
is to limit debates?!
OMalleys camp has previously slammed the DNC for facilitating a coronation of Hillary, and Wasserman Schultz rebuked Lincoln Chafee when he went after Clintons ethics.
The governor repeated one phrase several times in his speech: We need debate.
We are the Democratic Party, not the undemocratic Party, OMalley said. If we are to debate debates, the topic should be how many, not how few.
Wasserman Schultz gave OMalley a quick handshake and a dirty look after his remarks.

(121,224 posts)DWS needs to go. The way the party is handling this whole primary situation completely sucks and is obviously intended to squeeze out any competition against Hillary, whom the party establishment has already selected. BTW, right now I'm leaning Bernie but I do like O'Malley. If he were the nominee I could support him enthusiastically. If it's Hillary I'll vote for her but only because any GOPer would be much worse. I just hate what the DNC has been doing - it's a rigged game.

(1,605 posts)Sent the DNC an email today saying as much. Her "strategy" for 2014 was beyond a joke. She sucks!

(11,614 posts)That was all. Mafia references regarding the primaries sorta get my guard up.
Thank you for the reply.

(45,251 posts)them on the latest page. I didn't think my comment disrespected anyone, with the possible exception of DWS. At that, it was intended as humor. However, I will gladly self delete. I would not want to go against the purpose of the group in any way.

(5,400 posts)I've been supporting Sanders but I have to give credit where credit is due. I hope he has a long and very prominent career.
