It’s time to rally ’round O’Malley.

'Throughout the Iowa caucuses season, one thing has become clear — America wants an end to gridlock. We want our leaders to work together to solve problems facing our hard-working families.

There is only one Democratic candidate who has a demonstrated track record of bringing people from different viewpoints together to get things done. Gov. Martin O’Malley from Maryland has the ability, tenacity and perseverance we need to bring us together.

When you look at his record, Martin O’Malley embodies the hopes and aspirations of all of us and has delivered on challenging issues. Historically, for our country, he is the right leader at the right time.

We want the economy to be fair and opportunity to be open to all. We want a fair election system that takes the influence of the affluent and arrogant out of our process. We all want to be treated with respect and dignity. We want to be safe. We want to live in peace and security. And most of all we want America to work together to solve our problems and create a brighter future together.

That is a future that Martin O’Malley can and will deliver as president of the United States.

On Feb. 1, Iowa Democrats start the process of picking our best candidate to win the general election, not just the nomination. We have a big decision to make. This is not a two-person race, and six months of rancor between factions of our party will not make us stronger heading into the general election.

Nominating a candidate who will be under constant personal attack is not a path to victory. For the next 11 months, when we should be talking about how the Democratic Party will improve the lives of working families, will we instead be defending and explaining our nominee?

Nominating a candidate from the extreme left of our party, when the Republicans seem bent on nominating someone from their extreme right of theirs, is not a winning strategy either. America wants an end to the extremes that have polarized our country, not a confirmation of them. Instead of talking about reforming our election system, will we spend the next 11 months defending and explaining various definitions of socialism?

It’s time to rally ’round O’Malley.

As he travels this state and this country, as people get to know Martin O’Malley, they like what they see and are drawn to his sincerity, vision and commitment.

Martin O’Malley’s core values are our values. He leads by principle and has shown the ability to take successful action on even the toughest issues, and has done so with bipartisan support. People rally around him because he calls on the best qualities of our people to do the things we know in our collective heart to be right.

This election is not just about Democrats, it’s about all of us, as Americans, coming together and not being dragged further apart. So the ultimate questions that face us are: Who is the best choice to bring people together? Who is the candidate who will lead on our progressive values? Who will be the best messenger for Democrats in the general election? Who will appeal to Americans from all walks of life? And who will be best able to get things done in our country once elected?

I believe that it is time for us to rally ’round O’Malley!

Please join me in caucusing for Gov. Martin O’Malley for president on Feb. 1.'
