Are you afraid to go into the kitchen?

Last edited Fri Jun 26, 2015, 08:53 PM - Edit history (1)

I mean, some folks in another group are quaking in their boots because.....

.... well, I'm not quite sure, unless they've fallen for the RW meme that the tragedy in the Charleston African American church had something to do with religion and wasn't a racist act. But why would such GOP lying talking points be heeded on a Dem site?

We Pastafarians have been called a hoax, a parody, not real! But I don't feel persecuted. It's not in the nature of pirates and pasta to feel anything but grateful our DNA came together as it did!

1. The persecution complex is ingrained in Christianity.

Even while slaughtering native Americans by the thousands they managed to cough up a "martyred" saint or two.

I am afraid to get out of bed. But enough about me and my fear of the monster under the bed.

If these people who are afraid are true believers, they would not fear dying in their churches. What better place to have a totally random and unlikely act of terrorism occur than in church to get a free pass to heaven. If I have to die at some point, I would be glad to die over a just finished plate of pasta.

4. Well that's pretty sad to have a right-wing meme be used at DU.

I can't see the thread, maybe it's the same person I put on ignore for using other right-wing memes like comparing marriage equality to marrying one's bicycle or dead grandmother?

Yes.

Why anyone here would perpetrate the decidedly GOP meme that the shootings had anything to do with church or religion? Those people were killed because they were black, not because of their religion.

All the alerts and banning over that thread are obviously because those who seem to be trying to get on the persecution bandwagon have been shown that they might be wrong. They sure don't want to "discuss" it at all. They apparently just want to all nod their heads and agree, because they ban or report on anything that doesn't tow the "we're in peril!" line.

11. That's the funny part. I was banned and wasn't even being contentious.

If I was looking for a fight, I would have said

"No, because I'm not black."

I think black people have been given a good deal of practical cause to fear for their safety with open-air lunatic racists walking around, armed, spewing hate and ticking down to some horrible end.

I literally cannot recall the last time someone said to themselves "Self, let's go execute a bunch of white people for being white. Save one as a witness to scare all the other white people." So no. I don't feel fear anywhere. I do feel a bit of guilt though.

But instead of starting a fight I merely asked why they ever felt safe in the first place. Not a difficult question.

Hahaha.... That's rich.

All this banning and alerting....

I never alert on anyone on DU.... even if they accused me of fondling my clientele! There's nothing that important to get so upset over. Why alert and ban? This is a message board.... an e-cocktail party.

Alerting and banning certainly ends any discussion.... which is just bizarre for groups who say they want to discuss things and "all are welcome". There's certainly nothing disrupting about asking why someone on DU is pushing RW memes. And one can read exactly what people type....in black and white.... it's right there. Making up between-the-lines fantasy statements about what one THINKS someone MIGHT actually mean when one can just read what they wrote... just to cause a kerfuffle... is despicable.

Also, statements like "god works in mysterious ways" and "We're all in god's hands" (god has hands?) are decidedly devised to END discussion.

I guess I'll just have to remember that when the mission statement says "all are welcome" and they want to "discuss yada yada", they really don't mean it.

I'd probably be offended by your post. And be really fucking frustrated that I had to sit there and watch and be helpless to do anything but alert troll while decent folk celebrated really good news.

As it is, I applaud it.

of DUers who don't think so. Some who are not silent by their own choice and some who are silent because their equating of same-sex marriage and marrying one's hamster or bicycle has already been too well publicized for their comfort.

Sheesh, that is worse than the DUers who supported the confederate flag.

I have no fear in the kitchen, that is where i have my big knives.
