Imperial Pacific International to appeal US court ruling

NORTHERN MARIANAS ISLANDS -- IMPERIAL Pacific International will appeal the district court’s denial of the company’s petition for a preliminary injunction against the Commonwealth Casino Commission.

IPI has notified the federal court of the company’s intention to elevate the case to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

IPI, through attorneys Viola Alepuyo and Philip Tydingco, filed the notice in the District Court for the NMI on Wednesday.

In a 25-page ruling issued on Tuesday, Federal Chief Judge Ramona V. Manglona stated that the public interest in transparency is served by allowing CCC to release the unredacted financial statements that IPI sought to prevent.

She said public interest weighs in favor of denying the preliminary injunction.
