Senators question Gov. Mapp's St. Thomas hotel bills

ST. THOMAS — Where the Governor spends his time on St. Thomas resurfaced Tuesday morning at a Senate Finance Committee budget hearing.

However, at least one senator questioned how much the governor spends on something more intimate.

“How much are you currently spending on the governor’s temporary residence?” Sen. Janette Millin Young asked Government House Director of Business and Administration Rochelle Benjamin.

After a long pause, Benjamin came up with an answer.

“About $25,000 to $30,000 so far to date for the fiscal year,” she said.
