(24,903 posts)Yes, I have eaten at an Indian restaurant. No I never will again. Didn't like the food.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden

(11,088 posts)Was it in the last 10 years? Also, Curious why you didn't like it?

Mr.Bill
(24,903 posts)I did not like how the food was seasoned. I mean I ate it, I just wouldn't care to again.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden

(11,088 posts)I haven't met nearly anybody who did not like it (of course I was raised in community largely vegetarian). I hope you at least were at a good restaurant. There have been some places I've eaten at where if it was my first experience, I would never try it again.

(1,231 posts)I have not posted here in a very long time. Laughing 😂 at myself since this subject brought me out of lurking mode.
I am posting in favor of the wide variety in recipes coming out of the subcontinent of India. Try a different choice or a different restaurant. You are missing out imho

Mr.Bill
(24,903 posts)And just the smell of curry, which you can't avoid in an Indian restaurant no matter what you order, is nauseating to me. You smell it when you walk in the door.

(1,231 posts)Smells can get me too, even old roses. There are lots of different types of curry; although believe me, I am no expert. One of my favorite curries smells like mint (not that I have a clue how to make it).
Taste is obviously personal. If you happen to get a second one in your county, do check it out. You might? be pleasantly surprised.

(24,903 posts)My stepdaughter is married to a Persian born gut whose family came here when he was a kid. They lived with his mother for awhile when they were first married and the mother taught my stepdaughter Persian cooking. No Persian restaurants here, or even markets, but they travel to a bigger town to get some ingredients and although I don't even know the names of the foods I usually like what she cooks.
It's hard to find good goat tongue here. Just kidding, We're not that exotic although that is a Persian delicacy, I'm told.

(1,231 posts)Agree. Persian food is delectable; although I cannot cook that either.

(2,728 posts)Sanders is my most likely next choice. I dine out about once a month at local Indian restaurants. I do love me some lamb rogan josh!
I wonder how Thai food factors in the assessment process as I've been addicted to mala beef stew with beef ball something fierce as of late

(5,815 posts)I have a close friend who is Punjabi and I learned from him to cook the food like they do in that area of India. I could live on Indian food. If done right, no only is is delicious, but it can be very healthy. I make my dal with fresh spinach and it is soooooooooo good!

(314 posts)I found it one of the more difficult cuisines to master making taste "authentic," but toasting and grinding the right combinations of spices and discovering "hing" (asafetida) allowed me to turn the corner.
I'm curious about the "theory," but will exhibit patience.

(314 posts)That will be very good for our nation, as Joe Biden will beat Donald Trump and will start moving positive legislation though Congress.
Let's rejoice in that together.

(47,304 posts)Big diverse cities with lots of Indian people might increase the likelihood of having good Indian restaurants. People who live there might be more liberal.
Younger Dems might be more likely to have Indian friends or enjoy a nice Indian meal while older Dems might think we're H-1bs. I'm Indian-American, born in the USA but am still most definitely coming to steal your job. It would be interesting to polls Trump supporters on this.
There are also variances among Indian-Americans with younger ones supporting Warren or Sanders while older ones think Biden is the safer choice.

(314 posts)I go down sometimes to get Cricket supplies from a "shop" that's tucked in the attic of a food market. The hardest part is choosing which place to eat at (given the great options).
The best Indian/Pakistani food I've had in LA is at the "teas" served at Cricket Matches at the Cricket grounds at Woodley Park (Encino).
Home teams (usually formed around ethnic lines) host the mid-game meals, and there is fierce competition among Indian and Pakistani (plus West Indian/Jamaican, etc) teams to put on the best spreads. Good eating!
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
TruckFump
(5,815 posts)Hey, that sounds good the "teas." I have watched cricket on TV, but have never attended a game. Will check this out.
Have been to Encino for the velodrome. Love the bicycle races. Started going for these in the late 60s/early 70s.

(314 posts)Places like India and Pakistan shut down when key batsmen are on strike (which means "at the plate," not on a work stoppage, LOL).
But a little slooooow for most Americans. I'm the odd ball on this one, but must admit (as a foodie) the "teas" did make any slowness of the game quite tolerable, IYKWIM.
The velodrome is very cool.

(5,815 posts)The strategy is amazing. Balancing for long, long periods of time and NOT moving on the slanted sides...eye the other one to determining that he/she is gonna break away. Sounds boring to some, but so amazing -- at least to me -- to watch. I got to watch some of the greats there.

(6,317 posts)I can't have it anymore. But oh my it is good. I think I gained 20 lbs one year eating Paratha. Now, I make Keto Paratha at home. I'm dreaming of some savvy Indian chef adding that to their menu for those of us that live the Keto lifestyle.

(1,532 posts)That's a very unexpected result considering biden has about 28% of the share of people's declared vote (16/56).
This means that maybe one of the following:
1) Biden voters are more active in this forum
2) A large number of undeclared voters are biden supporters
This poll isn't a random sample or anything so you can't draw too many firm conclusions but it is interesting that biden's support in this poll vastly surpasses his declared support by participants of the forum.
