Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumIf you know of some Sanders supporter who won't vote for Biden,
Send that person this link and ask them to get back to you after they've read every link at the link. It's Joe Biden's plans, programs, and policies. If they won't bother to read about what Biden will do, then just writer them off as an irrational person.

(28,744 posts)The Bernie or Busters should be ignored. To them, it's not about the country or anything they claim to believe in; it's about selfishness and seeking attention.
We should focus on people who understand that Trump is an existential threat, get out the party's message including a focus on health care, work on getting people registered, and work on GOTV efforts for November.

(18,124 posts)who are NOT part of the "Bernie or Bust" subgroup.
There are many, many good, intelligent people who are Sanders supporters and have reservations about Biden, but will absolutely vote for Biden and support him "when the time comes". (I may differ with them on when that time is, but it's not the point here.) The OP and the "won't matter" folks are not talking about them.
I do agree that the idea in the OP is a good idea. But it won't peel off very many who have already joined the BoB clique. It is more of an identity for them, than a rational decision process.
Edit to add: obviously you also are not part of the BoB clique, if you are open to reading about Biden's vision.

It is certainly not all Bernie voters, it is a subset of his followers who have taken things to the extreme that are of great concern.

(147,386 posts)I made a suggestion of what people could do if SOME Sanders supporter wants to argue. My suggestion was to give that person that link and not argue with him or her at all. Just give them the link and walk away.
Most, but not all, Sanders supporters will vote for the Democratic nominee. But, some, are saying they won't.
So, no, I won't stop making suggestions like that one.

(5,428 posts)is shooting themselves in the foot. I don't care what their reasons are. The overwhelming crookedness and constitutional criminality of this current administration is enough to make their decision. If they don't vote, they can just join the ranks of republicans enabling these shysters like Moscow Mitch and his fellow mobsters to continue to pillage and gut anything left of what used to be a decent society. The judicial system alone has already been altered by a bunch of recent loony appointments that will screw us for the rest of our lifetime. We are 80% on the way to being run by a bunch of greedy-ass TV preachers and inept morons that don't even care about the constituents they are there to serve. They continue to enrich themselves at the expense of everyone else without even a shred of guilt. The repuglican party is so corrupt that none of them will challenge the biggest crook in their party - they now worship him. So if you are enjoying this mess, don't vote.

to the left,we wouldn't have fucking evil SCOTUS judges...one of whom is a rapist and the country wouldn't have lurched right...And all the other horror that is the Trump presidency would have been prevented...this is why a -perceived moderate must run to fix that which was broken in 16 during the General when the worst president in history was elected. And that is Biden.
People talk about President Obama and how he won election and no one thought he could...but we could afford to take the chance in 08. We didn't have an incumbent. Bush was deeply unpopular, our economy was in free fall and Obama was one of the most gifted politicians in history. I don't like any GOP, but McCain was not a monster that struck terror in my soul like Trump does. Of we course must consider that any GOP President will appoint judges and fight to defeat all of them for that reason alone. Vote blue no matter who. This is what the left/Stein voters should have considered before screwing Hillary over and driving the country to the right. They made it less likely that their policy will ever become law. Neither the Green New Deal nor M4A can pass the house as I write this.
We will endure right wing judges for decades thanks to the left/Green betrayal of Hillary Clinton. This will affect all legislation going forward. We are in desperate circumstances. This means we can't afford to take any chances this election. Biden can beat Trump and is progressive. He can win the General. I like the guy, and he is not what Sanders has tried to smear him with...With Biden, social security is safe. With Trump it is endangered. This temper tatrum b the Left/Green voters is more about those who are determined that Sanders must be our nominee even if Trump wins the general which he surely will if Sanders is the nominee.
Biden has won the primary mathematically. I for one am glad it is over. We must turn to the General now. Trump must go or this country is done. Of course the Trump presidency has been much worse than even I imagined it could be. And every person who died during this administration is on the left/Stein voters. It just is. So they need to step up and vote for Biden in the General or they are exposed for all time as unreliable non-Democratic voters who don't give a damn about this country. And we shouldn't give a damn about them.

(147,386 posts)Bernie Sanders hired more than one high-level campaign staff member who voted for Jill Stein, instead of Hillary. You knew that, right? So, you are aware of Sanders supporters who did not vote for the Democratic nominee.

(4,488 posts)More than enough to win the White House in 2016 for Trump.
"Fully 12 percent of people who voted for Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., in the 2016 Democratic presidential primaries voted for President Trump in the general election. That is according to the data from the Cooperative Congressional Election Study a massive election survey of around 50,000 people."

(10,120 posts)but if there is a specific issue - like climate change - the link to Joes Plan for a Clean Energy Revolution and Environmental Justice is fantastic and really highlights the vast difference between voting for a Democrat who believes in science and a deranged orange man who can't even spell science. https://joebiden.com/climate/

If you took my response as minimizing the danger, that was not my intent. I read your post and commented because the threat is real

(15,717 posts)If Sanders supporters who are on the fence read this, they will see that Biden is actually quite progressive. The one thing that gives me hope is my anecdotal experience with Sanders voters. I know several and theyre all in for Biden when the time comes. I know its just my personal experience but I think Trump will lose 9/10 Sanders voters.
